Bazin Riche is damask cotton, beaten with wooden mallets until it holds a low, dry sheen. Maison Kitchen uses it only on cloth that touches the table — a narrow woven band at the hem, so the shine reads as light on linen rather than as pattern.

One band per cloth — roughly a hand's width in a full table setting.
