Maison Fabric Accent

Bogolan, from Ségou, Mali.

Bogolan — mudcloth — is dyed with fermented river clay and pounded bark, then drawn line by line by hand. In Maison Living it is never printed and never used as upholstery: a single narrow woven band is set into the room so the eye finds it once, then rests.

About five percent of any room set — one accent, never a theme.
